The Damned In Hell Would Be Most Penitent

Thomas Watson “The Doctrine of Repentance”.

“Unless you repent, you will also perish.” Luke 13:5

There are several counterfeits of repentance.

A man has gone on long in sin. At last God arrests him, shows him what desperate hazard he has run—and he is filled with anguish! But after a while, the tempest of conscience is blown over, and he is quiet. Then he concludes that he is a true penitent because he has felt some bitterness in sin.

Do not be deceived! This is not true repentance! Both Ahab and Judas had great trouble of mind. It is one thing to be a terrified sinner—and another to be a repenting sinner. Sense of guilt is enough to breed terror in the conscience. Only infusion of divine grace, breeds true repentance. If pain and trouble were sufficient to repentance—then the damned in hell would be most penitent, for they are most in anguish.

“Men gnawed their tongues in agony, and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done!” Revelation 16:10-11

I know that i’m going to Hell. I’m not looking forward to it, but I know I must go. I am not a righteous person, I live my life for my pleasure a life of sexual depravity and pleasure. I know that this alone will cause me to be cast into Hell! I’ve tried but I cannot repent, I love my life and I don’t regret the things I’ve done. I will probably feel different when I’m standing on the brink of Hellfire but now I can do nothing to change my life.

I only hope that when I’m burning in Hell that I will meet some people that I knew and loved. I hope that God will allow me to be reunited with my mother and sister.

When my husband arrives I hope that God will allow me to be with him. Burning in Hellfire for eternity will be easier to bear if my darling Bob is with me. We will love eachother forever…even in Hell!

      Marcia
Don’t sell yourself short by saying that your lifestyle will prevent you from entering Heaven. Believe me when I tell you that I have done alot more evil deeds in life then just the simple pleasures. For instance my 20 years of drug used had me burning bibles and cursing up at GOD for all its worth. However not only was He able to forgive me but helped me overcome my lusts in life such as drugs and treating women like objects rather than human beings with feelings. GOD CAN AND WILL FORGIVE YOU. The one thing that people don’t realize is that GOD can’t use you if you can’t help yourself in trying to repent from your old sinful ways. Meaning GOD didn’t take away the fact that I am an addict but enabled me to have the drive to say enough is enough. He expects you to do your part. Word of wisdom though is when you decide you have had enough you must be able to realize that the devil doesn’t give up easy when he loses a customer. Be aware of anything and everything going on around you. GOD gave us free will to make our own decisions good and bad knowing full well that we are going to make alot of wrong ones in our short lifetime on earth. The key is being able to realize this and at the same time understand that GOD will be there to forgive you and wipe the slate clean, if you ask him sincerely to remove your shortcomings and to help you improve upon your weaknesses. GOD loves you reguardless of your past and is waiting fo forgive those that ask, trust me GOD has all the time in the world to wait. I hope that if you read this by chance that you will take the first steps toward salvation and take a long look at yourself and identify your issues holding you back as we ALL are sinners on a daily basis, and ask GOD not only to forgive these sins but also to help you help yourself. I don’t know you from adam but from your post I can identify some of the exact feelings that you described and just want to try and help you take the first step forward. Remember eternity is a long time and I don’t think you really want to be in the absence of GOD for all eternity. Will close with saying that if you need any support you can e-mail me for advice if not then I hope you can put your life together and realize that YOU matter to GOD and if you allow him to he will show you life that you didn’t know exsisted and a feeling that is better than any drug or drink out there. Take care and GODBLESS YOU.

  1. Marcia,
I appreciate your honesty concerning a matter this weighty. Most people tuck tail and run from a topic that deals so explicitly with eternal matters.

You have raised a lot of questions I really want to ask you. I guess we have exposed very quickly the fallout of the blog world. Real time communication would be really nice so that I could ask you all of my questions in one setting to make sure I am understanding you completely. I have no desire to misrepresent what you are conveying to me.

Yet, real time communication is not the option we are presented with at the moment. So I will ask you one of my questions. You say:

I know that I am going to Hell. I’m not looking forward to it, but I know I must go.

I guess I would like you to explain the part where you say you are not looking forward to going to Hell. Why are you not looking forward to it? Does it concern you that will go to Hell? I would like to hear you explain why God would send you to Hell.

I don’t look forward to going to Hell because I’ve read about it and heard sermons about it and it scares me! The thought that I’ll burn in Hell forever absoutly terrifies me! But only for a few moments. Soon, I’m back to living my sinful lifestyle. I can’t help it. My lust and desire are stronger than my fear of future punishment! I’ve tried but I cannot repent.

I could pay lip service to repentence but, in my heart, I know that I will never give up my sinful ways.

God will send me to Hell because I am an unrepentant sinner. I sin every day. It’s the way I am. I’m selfindulgent , living for my own pleasure and base desires. I am a wicked, vile sinner and I will never be anything else. There is no hope for me.

When my time comes and I join that multitude screaming and shrieking in the fires of Hell please don’t pity me and, whatever you do, don’t pray for me! Just remember me.

I’ve made my choices and lived my life to the fullest. I got a few years of pleasure before I spend eternity burning in Hell.

  2. Marcia,
First, I do pity you very much. I would not wish that any go to hell. Hell will not be a big party where you meet up with other people and just hang out. Hell will not be one big family reunion of fun for those who didn’t repent. The Bible speaks very plainly about the realities of Hell: it is a place of fire and darkness (Jude 7 & 13), of “weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:12), of destruction (2 Peter 3:7), and torment (Luke 16:23).

Our culture does no good in painting hell as a place that’s not so bad if you can tolerate the bad elevator music and maybe having to eat your veggies at every meal. Hell is not so much the absence of God, as its the consequences of His wrath and displeasure. God is like a consuming fire, and His righteous condemnation for defying him and clinging to the sins he loathes will be experienced in hell (Romans 2:6, 8, 9, 12).

I have very good reason to believe from your two previous comments that you understand fully what I am talking about. You mention that you know you are going to hell, that your love for the sin of sexual depravity alone will cause you to go to hell, you are self-indulgent, you love living for yourself and not God, and above all you do not desire to repent.

Marcia, these words from your mouth frighten and bring much worry to me for your sake. Romans 1:32 says very clearly, “Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” These words describe you Marcia, and this is what worries me for your soul’s sake. In the verses surrounding this one God makes it very clear that he gave men and women up to their dishonorable passions (Romans 1:26) because they repeatedly suppressed the truth of God (Romans 1:18) that is written on their hearts (Romans 2:14-15), and hardened their hearts against God.

God created us as His special creation with a conscience, or “with knowledge” to know that when we sin against God our conscience will send up a red flag. Our conscience will either excuse us or accuse us (Romans 2:15). I beg you to not suppress what I hope your conscience is screaming to you.

The Old Testament makes it very clear that breaking God’s law was a serious crime against Him. The seventh commandment is “you shall not commit adultery”. Deuteronomy 22:22 lays it out pretty clearly that the immediate penalty was death. Jesus in the New Testament takes it a step further and says, “whoever looks with at a women (or man it doesn’t matter which sex it is) with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:27).
    * I mention this commandment with its resulting consequences because of the nature of the sin you confessed to in your first comment *

Now think of how many times you have lusted (committed adultery in your heart) alone and have not been punished as you should be. At your first lusting you should have received God’s justice for your sin, let alone for all the multitudes of sin you and I have committed apart from lust. The Bible says, “Do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard an impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.” (Romans 2:4-5). Marcia, I plead that you will not be the person that stores up wrath because of your impenitent heart, but that reflection upon God’s forbearance towards your just punishment will lead you to weep over your sin, marvel at God’s grace, and repent and place your faith in Jesus Christ to save your soul.

I leave you with these words of hope and salvation in Jesus Christ:

Romans 3:22-25 “For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are declared righteous in the sight of God by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a wrath absorbing substitute by his blood, to be received by faith.”

I plead, beg, and challenge you to reflect on the 10 commandments. Reflect on God’s law. See how you do not measure up. God’s standard is perfection and his standard of perfection has not been kept by anyone. Let the reflection of God’s law and how you have broken everyone with gladness break your heart. Let your conscience work for you in the fact that it will accuse of you being a spiritual law breaker. Mourn over your sin. God is faithful and just to save the soul of a repentant sinner.

  3. Marcia,
Do you have a Bible? If you do and want to read through some passages of the Bible together so we can talk about them I would be glad to.

Jesus says “Love me or burn!” this is what I get from reading the Bible!

I’m sorry but I cannot love such a god! If God does not want me then I must go to Hell! In Hell, even though I will suffer in torment for eternity, I am wanted.

    Marcia

  4. Marcia,
You know that your first sentence:

“Jesus says “Love me or burn!” this is what I get from reading the Bible!”

    simply is not true.

You do not go to hell because you do not love Jesus. You go to hell because you have broken God’s law. I know you know this.

The bible says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3. Also, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” Deuteronomy 6:5. You have confessed to breaking this command when you said:

“God will send me to Hell because I am an unrepentant sinner. I sin every day. It’s the way I am. I’m selfindulgent , living for my own pleasure and base desires.”

The bible says, ““You shall not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14. Jesus takes it a step further by stating, ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28. I am guessing it is safe to say you have broken this command when you confessed:

“I am not a righteous person, I live my life for my pleasure a life of sexual depravity and pleasure.”

By your own admission (through the comments you have left) you confess to at least being a God hating, self loving, adulterer at heart. It is the breaking of these laws that will send you to hell. Why?

Because God is a just judge that has to punish law breaking with justice.

For example, say you and I both know a man named Joe. There is nothing out of the ordinary about Joe as far as you and I can tell. One day we are hanging out with Joe and a police officer shows up, arrests Joe on the account that 10 years ago Joe raped and murdered a little girl. Joe is arrested, the evidence proves that Joe did break these laws, and now Joe goes to Civil Court.

Joe is standing in front of the Civil Judge and the Judge says, “Joe you are found guilty of being a rapist and a murderer. You are being sentenced to life in prison for breaking these civil laws.” Joe raises his objection, “That’s not fair judge. I only broke those laws once.” The judge replies, “I don’t care if you have broke them once, or ten times. You still have broken the civil law and because I am a just judge I must serve justice.”

Now Joe responds with anger. “This simply isn’t fair. Judge, you are sending me to jail because I don’t love you.” The judge is taken aback by Joe’s audacious claim. “Of course you don’t love me Joe I am sending you to life in prison. But I am not sending you to life in prison because you don’t love me. I am sending you to prison because you have broken civil law.”

The same it is with God. If the civil judge must act with justice how much more will God the Good Judge act with justice and punish those who break his law.

Now back to the example. The Civil Judge says, “Joe you are hereby found guilty, and will be sentenced to life in prison and your bond will be set at $1,000,000. If you can pay your bond right now you will be set free.” Of course Joe doesn’t have $1,000,000. The judge is about to bang down his gavel when someone kicks in the back door, rushes toward the bench and says, “Judge here is $1,000,000. I don’t know Joe but I am going to pay Joe’s bond so that he can go free. The Judge agrees, takes the money, and looks at Joe and declares him to be free.

A law was broken. A penalty was due. And a sacrifice was made that satisfied the justice of the civil judge.

So it is with God. We have broken God’s law (this is called sin), and a penalty is due. When we die we will be judged for the sins we have committed towards God. We will be found guilty, and then we will have to face and absorb God’s justice and wrath.

Yet, a sacrifice was made by Jesus Christ. Jesus died upon the cross, and defeated the curse of sin by taking sin upon him. Jesus was dead, buried, and resurrected from the grave showing that he defeated sins curse which is death. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead shows God’s satisfaction with the sacrifice of his Son. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead show’s God’s justice has been satisfied and found in the shedding of the blood of Jesus.

The bible speaks clearly that the way to be born again, or the way to have the penalty for the sins we have committed paid for with the sacrifice of Jesus is to repent of our sin. Confess to God we have sinned against him, and place your faith in Jesus being fully convinced that he is able to save you.

I know this is a lot to take in and is probably a little confusing. Please ask me more questions about what I have been writing. I am very honored at your openness towards a matter such as this. There is no more important thing than the eternal destination of your soul.

Hi, there, I’m Shawn. Though I was created, I will not honor my Creator. I will live my life however I myself please, not how my Creator requires me to live it. Despite being warned by my own conscience, by the written word of my Creator, and by others, I will continue on in my sin, and even mock those who have warned me, including my Creator who is the only hope of my salvation. Unless I repent, I will justly perish as God has warned me I would, and every word I ever spoke to mock the God of Salvation shall gnaw on my heart as the worm that dieth not throughout all eternity. Even while in Hell, I will never ever repent for my wickedness (for I love my chains, and he who loves his chains deserves his chains), and thus my punishment must continue because my sin continues… forever. And I will never admit that this was all my own fault, but will weep and gnash my teeth at my Creator like the fool that I am.

Then again, perhaps I might spend some more time thinking about this while I still can. Perhaps I will come under conviction of my sin against my Creator, realizing that my sins are nobody’s fault but mine. And perhaps God will take pity on me and turn my wicked heart away from sin and unto Himself. Maybe, by the grace of God, I will understand that God gives grace to the humble, but resists the proud.

I am a being that exists outside of the concept of time. I am the infinite expanse, and I am what fills the infinite expanse. You see time as past, present, and future, but I simply am. I created your concept of time. I created time, but to say I “created” time is still false, as to say created, is to say that it has happened already, but since time is an illusion, consider it that I have created time, am creating time, and will create time.

Knowing this, know that I created you. Again, the word “created” is false, because I exist outside of the bubble of time, I have created you, I am creating you, and will create you, all at once, because I simply am.

Now, know that I created Hell. Yet again, the concepts already talked about, apply here. I have created hell, am creating hell, and am going to create hell, all at once, because I am.

Now think of this. I will judge the unrighteous, and they will be condemned to an eternal hell. The concept of time talked about, yet again, apply here. I have condemned them, I am condemning them, and they will be condemned. Because I am also all-knowing (because all is contained within me, and nothing happens unless I make it happen), when I created you (created, creating, will create), I knew you would be condemned, because at the same time, I was condemning you.

It does not matter that I am ultimately responsible for everything that is, even though I am the one that wills everything, every person, every atom, every quantum particle, everyTHING, that is, to continue. There is nothing but my will, because my will is not something that exists in time, my will is past, present, and future, and beyond.

But while I exist outside of time, am all powerful, and all knowing, I am also all loving. It does not matter that I am condemning 90% of my own image to an eternal torment, for a finite, situational, NATURAL (as the order of flesh is the natural, the corruptible), and ultimately unknowing, disobedience. It does not matter that 50% of my own created image has never heard of the name of my ONLY solution to the problem, and that I created them (have created, am creating, will create) knowing this, you have to remember, it is not my fault, it is theirs.

My name, is the Christian God.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
this my friends, is so incredibly sad, so incredibly hopeless, so ultimately IRRESPONSIBLE, that I have come to the point of such frustration, I wish I had not ever been born into this world, to experience this horror that people believe. I pray to God every night to reveal truth, all all I want to know is truth, yet I dread that this is the true God. I dread the day when I am forced through fear, to sit on the knee of one an infinite amount worse than the worst murderer on the planet.

I have ultimately come to 3 conclusions of reality, and at least one of them or any combination of them must be true:

    1) Hell is not eternal.
    2) The Christian God is either not real, is horribly misunderstood, or has been portrayed falsely.
    3) Jesus was not the true God, and was a false teacher.

    …………………………………………………….

By the way, I come from a fundamental independent Baptist church, and was saved at the age of 6. Yet, I still have come to these conclusions. I have begged for truth to be shown, yet I find none. May God have mercy on my soul.

  5. Marcia, you must cry out to God for him to save you. Read your bible and cry out to him until you either die and go to Hell or he does a work in your heart.

If God does save you he will give you a new heart that loves righteousness and hates wickedness and repentance will come naturally. You will no longer have to worry about loving your sinful lifestyle because he will give you power to overcome those sins.

For those of you who do not believe in God, and have bought into the religious concept that God is wrathful and has set us up to fail, I would encourage you to read Sylvia Browne’s book, “Temples on the Other Side.” This books speaks only of a God of love and forgiveness, and explains why God allows up to have the experiences that we have here on Earth. This book denounces the concept of Hell and hellfire. Once you read this book, your view of the “True God” will totally change. I guarantee it.

    • Terry,
I agree that reading Sylvia Browne’s book Temples on the Other Side will cause you to change your view of God. The change coming your way is this; you will create a god in your own image, one that is conformed to your own desires. Reading this book is a sure fire way of discovering how to become an idolator.

You state: “This books (sic) speaks only of a God of love and forgiveness.” And, “This book denounces the concept of Hell and hellfire.”

For these statements (your comments on what Browne’s book is about) to be true, one has to throw away certain key doctrines found in scripture. Namely: the doctrine of God’s wrath, and the doctrine of hell.

It is true that God is a god of love and forgiveness (Rom 5:8; John 3:16; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 4:9-10) but it is equally true that God is a God of wrath. The picture painted for us in scripture is a God who has the attributes of holy love, and holy wrath. To worship a God that is a God of love and forgiveness only is to worship an idol. You have created a god to suit your desires and to justify your sins. Who wouldn’t want a god that is only love and forgiveness. A god of love and forgiveness only would have to love you while you live for your sin and find pleasure in your sin alone, and gives you no reason to weep over your sins, have sorrow over your sins, confess your sins, or repent of your sins.

First, the statement, “This books (sic) speaks only of a God of love and forgiveness” has to get around these scriptures in order to be true:

The day of God’s wrath will be a day of great astonishment to the wicked and ungodly.

”The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of mind.” Deuteronomy 28:28

The day of God’s wrath will be a day of great distress to the wicked.

“I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.” Proverbs 1:26-27

God’s great wrath will tear them in pieces like a lion!

”For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and no one shall rescue.” Hosea 5:14.

”Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver!” Psalm 50:22

God’s great wrath will consume them like fire!

”For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” Malachi 4:1

God’s great wrath will swallow up all His enemies!

”Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you. You will make them as a blazing oven when you appear. The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath, and fire will consume them.” Psalm 21:8-9

God’s great wrath rests upon all mankind.

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked . . . among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” Ephesians 2:1-3

God’s great wrath abides upon the sons of disobedience.

“For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” Ephesians 5:5-6

God’s great wrath abides upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” Romans 1:18

Scriptural salvation is salvation from the wrath of God.

“Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” Romans 5:9

God’s wrath is coming because of sin.

“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming.” Colossians 3:5-6

Second, the statement, “This book denounces the concept of Hell and hellfire” has to get around these scriptures in order to be true:

Hell is the final abode of those condemned to eternal punishment.

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:41-46

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15

Hell is described as a place of fire and darkness.

“Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire . . . wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.” Jude 7, 13

Hell is described as a place of “weeping and gnashing of teeth”.

“While the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

      Matthew 8:12

“Throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13:42, 50

“Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” Matthew 22:13

“Cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 24:51

“Cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’” Matthew 25:30

Hell is described as a place of destruction.

“While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” 1 Thessalonians 5:3

“And to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.” 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

“But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” 2 Peter 3:7

Hell is described as a place of torment.

“And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.” Luke 16:23

“And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelation 20:10

Jesus teaches us that if sin is not renounced your reward will be hell.

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’” Mark 9:42-48

There is overwhelming evidence for the support of God as a god of love and wrath, and there is overwhelming evidence for the support of the doctrine of hell. Terry, you are in error and you are believing a lie. I can tell you are a spiritual person, but just being spiritual is not enough. Your sins can not be atoned for by your spirituality. They must be atoned for by the shedding of blood (Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” Hebrews 9:22). The christian scriptures speak clearly that it is the blood of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, and his blood alone that can atone for sins.

The purpose of the Bible’s teaching about hell and the wrath of God is to make us turn with gratitude to the grace of Christ. For this reason God’s warning to us is merciful. God has, “no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live” (Ezekiel 33:11).

Therefore I, “Implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake (God) made (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20-21).
